Behind the Design

Robin's Creative Process

From mood board to finished room—a look inside the making of the Marble Moon Lounge at Richmond Symphony League Designer House 2026.

01
The Vision
Robin's starting point: a bold, layered world of jewel tones, curved silhouettes, and materials that reward a second look. The mood board she built imagined a space where every object earns its place—and every guest feels the invitation to stay.
Mood Board
02
The Space Before
Every transformation starts with an honest look at what exists. Robin documented the room as it was—its proportions, its light, its constraints—and saw not a limitation but a canvas waiting for something extraordinary.

03
Floor Plan & Layout
Space planning is where feeling becomes function. The curved sectional anchors the room in a conversation pit arrangement, drawing people toward each other. Every zone was mapped for flow, focal points, and the art that would eventually live on each wall.

04
Art Curation
In partnership with The Crone House and Rich Experiences, Robin assembled a collection of artists whose work is as layered as the room itself—painters, ceramicists, and sculptors from Richmond and beyond whose voices belong together.

05
The Render
Before a single piece moved in, the room existed in full detail as a 3D render. Deep plum walls. Mustard velvet. Custom chain-link drapery. The render let the team refine every layer—and confirm that the vision was worth every step it took to get here.

The Finished Room
The room you're standing in right now. Every object chosen with intention, every wall a gallery, every corner an invitation. This is what it looks like when a designer gives herself full permission—and the community shows up to make it real.

Why It Matters

Supporting Richmond's Symphony

By purchasing a ticket to Richmond Symphony League's Designer House 2026, you've already done something meaningful. Every admission directly supports the Richmond Symphony—one of the most vital cultural institutions in our city.

The Richmond Symphony League has championed the Symphony's mission for decades, funding education programs, community outreach, and the extraordinary performances that make Richmond a richer place to live. Designer House is their signature fundraiser, and this room—the Marble Moon Lounge—is our contribution to that legacy.

When you shop the room, inquire about a piece, or simply share this page, you're extending that support further. Art, design, and music are how Richmond knows itself.
