I’m Robin Gahan, founder and principal designer of Marble Moon Interiors. I believe every space has a story—and I’m here to help bring yours to life. From bold color palettes to curated vintage finds, my work reflects personality, sustainability, and artistry. The Marble Moon Lounge is my love letter to the 1970s and everything this family room’s bones were asking to become.

Plum Perfect. Mustard Velvet. Golden Hour.
I wanted to make a case for the 1970s as the most soulful decade in American design—every surface steeped in rich, unhurried glamour that rewards a closer look. A room that wraps around you like a good conversation: warm without being heavy, bold without being loud.

It Started with a Feeling
The first spark wasn’t a color or a fabric—it was a feeling. That golden-hour warmth of a 1970s conversation pit. Gathered, unhurried, unmistakably alive. I knew exactly where this room needed to begin.

03 — The Space Before
Good Bones. Bold Vision.
Honey-toned knotty pine beams. A grey stone fireplace. Arched windows framing the trees. The room’s bones told the story first. These weren’t obstacles—they were the beginning. I leaned all the way in, layering aubergine walls against the warm wood for the cozy atmosphere I was after.

The Room Before the Room
Before a single piece moved in, I could already see it—fully realized, in full color. Deep plum walls. Mustard velvet. Custom drapery. This was the moment my vision became a promise. Rendering by Lee Waters Design.

Where Feeling Becomes Function
Space planning is invisible when it’s done right. I anchored the room around the curved sectional in a conversation pit arrangement—an intentional gravity that draws people toward each other, toward the center, toward the art on the walls.

The Piece a Room is Built Around
The star of the show is this vintage sculptural sofa—sourced locally from Mid Century Morris, remarkably in its original soft gold velvet. Its sweeping curved form invites exactly the kind of unhurried gathering the 1970s did so well. Velvet and chrome, geometric pattern and plush pile.

Choosing Work That Belongs to This World
Working with The Crone House and Rich Experiences, I assembled painters, sculptors, ceramicists, and fiber artists from Richmond and beyond. Every piece was chosen with one question: does this belong in this world? The answer, again and again, was yes.
